For miniature tubing, burrs at cut ends can block flow or damage downstream components. Typical end-condition options include:

• As-cut: Acceptable for non-critical applications; burr height depends on cutting method (abrasive wheel, laser, or EDM).
• Deburred: Mechanical or chemical deburring to remove sharp edges. Specify maximum burr height (e.g., ≤ 0.05 mm).
• Chamfered or faced: Square ends with controlled edge break for welding or fitting into compression ports.

For medical or analytical applications, specify end condition requirements on the drawing. Burr control is verified by visual inspection at 10× magnification or by profilometry, as agreed.

Surface Finish and Cleanliness Requirements

Surface finish for 316Ti miniature tubing is typically specified by Ra (arithmetical mean roughness). Standard as-drawn annealed finish is Ra ≤ 0.8 µm (32 µin). For applications requiring lower friction or improved cleanability, electropolishing can achieve Ra ≤ 0.2 µm (8 µin).

Cleanliness requirements should be specified if the tubing will carry fluids or gases in analytical, medical, or semiconductor applications. Options include:

• Degreased: Removal of mill oils and cutting fluids.
• Ultrasonically cleaned: For particulate-sensitive applications.
